XM Radio’s answer to an iPhone App

January 12, 2009 · Filed Under Online Music

Don’t you think an XM Radio app would be a no brainer for XM Radio? I mean it’s a natural connection. It’s been a year and still no iPhone app yet. Not even rumor of one, yet this companies stock is at .15 a share, they are struggling like crazy. I’ve been an XM customer since XM first came out but now with more and more FREE internet radio apps coming to the iPhone; do I really need to keep paying XM?

Take a look at Stitcher radio, this iPhone app rocks and I find myself listening to it more than my XM Radio. But I’m hopeful that they will come out with an iPhone app, because I really want to listen to XM mobile. I have one of their mobile radios but it stinks, the reception is awful. The iPhone is the only solution for a good mobile XM app. And frankly I’m giving them 60 days to release it, if they don’t then I’ll just cancel and stay with Stitcher and podcasts.

I recently sent XM an email asking about their plans for an iPhone app and below is what I received from the.

Dear Mr. Iodice,

What? No current updates? There is no current anything relating to what would be one of the most popular apps. XM, you really need to listen to your customer base to dig out of the hole your company is in.
