Milebug saves you time and money; and is a MUST have for any business owner

Owning a small business is not all fun and money; in fact it’s a lot more work than anyone ever thinks. Fact is you wear many hats and have to keep track of every little thing. Long ago my accountant told me I had to keep track of my mileage; and let me tell you it was a nightmare. I tried everything, spreadsheets, an awful little application on my Palm Zire (that’s what I had several years ago). Problem was I could never get it right. NEVER.

It came to the point that I had a 5 subject notebook on my car seat and would log the miles as I entered my car. I felt like a bus driver logging in for my daily shift. End result was I told my accountant every year “10,000 miles”. I just could not keep up with it.

My life changed last week when I was contacted by the guys at Milebug and asked to take a look at their mileage application called Milebug.

I downloaded Milebug and was really happy to see how easy it was to use. Since I’m a visual person I loved the interface, it was clean and appealing to the eye. What’s really nice about Milebug is that it’s simple to use. They really did their homework when putting this application together. Because let’s face it; the last thing you want to do is spend time trying to figure out how to use an application just to record your mileage.

What I really like is that you can set up names for the different destinations ahead of time a real time saver. Something as simple as calculating the actual mileage showing the dollar amount is awesome. Believe it or not that old app I used on my Palm Zire would not even calculate the miles; I had to enter the start and stop and do the math myself. Crazy!

I have a couple of different businesses and one of them I have a car that I use just for that business. Milebug allows me to keep track of several different businesses as well as each different car. This is a great feature for a small fleet; maybe you own a landscaping company and have 5 different trucks, your drivers log their miles and you enter the date in Milebug at the end of each day. Another feature I love is the ability to email reports. Lets say your fleet and each driver has an iPhone and the Milebug application, at the end of the day each driver can email their daily reports to you in an excel friendly format all ready for your accountant.

Milebug is one of the few applications that has made it to my front page of applications. For business owners and anyone who drives for a living; Milebug is a must have application.

Hands down we give it 5 thumbs up. Boy it’s great to see those dollar amounts go up.
