Simplify Media adds unlimited storage of music to your iPhone and iPod Touch

August 27, 2008 · Filed Under Online Music · Comments

Ok so the title may be a little misleading, because an application cannot really expand the hard drive space of  your iPhone or iPod Touch; but because of the WiFi or 3G data you are able to stream music to your device. Now there are apps like Pandora that we reviewed last week that stream music from their service to your device, but what about an application that streams music to your iPod Touch or iPhone from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC? Now this may not sound like anything hard to do but listen to this, you don’t just stream over a local network your music is streamed over the Internet; so you can be anywhere in the world and listen to all your music streaming to your iPhone or iPod Touch. Why is this cool? Well think about it; you don’t have to worry about using all your hard drive space for music.

But it gets better, you are not limited to just your music, you can invite a friend or several friends and listen to their iTunes library as well. You also get artist information and get this; lyrics to the song playing so you can sing along.

The hits just keep getting better because this application is FREE! I love Simplify Media app. It works flawlessly and is just great. I have to give it an iPhone applications 5 thumbs up.

It’s no longer bad to play pocket pool :)

August 26, 2008 · Filed Under Games · Comments

If you are looking for a fun game that can get addictive very fast; then Pool is the way to go. The graphics are stunning, game play is very life like and ball movement is very life like. To control the pool stick you position your finger over the slide on the right side of the table and pull back. It has a laser like aimer that makes it easy to locate the ball you want to sink. It’s a little jumpy when you move the stick to the location you want.

All in all it really is a great inexpensive game that you will get hours of enjoyment from.

We give it an iPhone applications 3 thumbs up.

Facebook in the palm of your hand with the iphone

August 26, 2008 · Filed Under Social Networking · Comments

Facebook addicts now you can have all your friends in your pocket. I myself really like Facebook, I think its a great platform for keeping in touch with your friends and meeting new people. Now with the iPhone and iPod Touch application you can access your Facebook friends anywhere anytime.

The application is clean and simple, you have you home screen that shows you all the updates of your friends. the second icon allows you to see your wall, mini feeds and photos. Icon three shows an address book layout of all your friends, next is the chat icon giving you the ability to chat with any of you online friends and last is your Facebook email inbox.

Plain and simple, it’s a great Facebook took when you are away from your computer it does not replace the version of Facebook you have on your computer.

All in all it’s pretty good, Facebook also has a web based version that you do not have to install on your iPhone or Touch. Because it’s so basic I really don’t use it that much.

I’m giving it an iPhone applications 3 thumbs because for the chatting feature it works very well in a portable application.

Cool Game for iPhone - perhaps not much longer

August 25, 2008 · Filed Under Games · Comments

I’m a Tetris fanatic, I could play the game for hours and have played it on every cell phone I have ever had. Let’s talk about Tris the Tetris like game for the iPhone; while we still can. Tris is a knockoff of Tetris the only difference being the they removed the “et” from the name.

It’s a pretty well done game, that starts of easy and gets harder as you move up too the higher levels. Game play is pretty good, although as the blocks start dropping faster it’s a little harder to control on the touch screen.

All is all if you are a Tetris fan you will certainly enjoy Tris.

However, The Tetris Company has contacted the developer of Tris and told him to remove the application from the iTunes App store. So if you want it, get up there now and download it; because it may not be there much longer.

We give it an iPhone applications 3 thumbs up.

Save Benjis saves iphone owners money

August 25, 2008 · Filed Under online shopping · Comments

The number of applications out there for the iphone keep growing and reviewing iphone apps is almost becoming a full time job. Let’s face it there is not a lot of money involved in reviewing iphone apps, so I’m often looking for ways to save a few bucks.

Well the iphone and ipod touch have a new way to save you money; in the way of an application called Save Benjis. This application feels like it was custom made with me in mind, although I love Barnes and Noble and I buy my fair share of books from them. But quite often I’m want a book but don’t need it at that very moment. So what I do is write down the title and author if I have a pen and paper or try to memorize it. Then go home and search for it on Amazon or Half.com.

Well those days are done. Armed with an iphone or ipod touch with a WiFi connection; I can open up Save Benjis and type the name of the book or the barcode. Save Benjis seaches the Interent and displays a list of all the retailers selling it at the best price. How cool is that?

Now Save Benjis is not just limited to books, you can search any product and find the best price available, it’s comparison shopping of the future today. As of July 20th Save Benjis no longer shows results from Amazon.com which is kind of a bummer and I’m not really sure why.

All it all Save Benjis is a Great application that saves you lots of time and money. But without the ability to search the Amazon marketplace it does not get the 5 thumbs up. We give an iPhone applications 4 thumbs up.

Apple Remote for iPhone/iPod Touch is a homerun

August 23, 2008 · Filed Under Entertainment · Comments

I’ve hesitated writing a review on the Remote application for the iPhone/iPod Touch because lets face it everyone knows about; so I thought. I still come across people who have not heard of this very cool free app. This is one of the few designed by Apple. Need I say more; Apple created this app so it must be great. Well great it is.

Picture this your entire MP3 collection is on your G5 in your home office, you have your stereo connected to your Apple Airport Express streaming your music out to the speakers by your pool. In the past you would have to control your music from the computer. So another words; it’s mothers day you have some Kenny G on and all of a sudden Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap cranks on and you have to run through the house wet to change the song. Problem solved. With the Remote app on your iPhone or iPod Touch you can control it all right from the yard. The remote is connected via wifi and shows the album art of the song playing, with full control of your iTunes library.

Connecting could not be easier. A simple one time 4 digit connection code keeps you in control fast and easy. Now if Microsoft made this app it would take hours to configure :) ok cheap shot.

Remote app also controls your Apple TV. All this said I have to give it an iPhone applications 5 thumbs up the highest rating we give for an app.

Now I can watch Tekzilla and Diggnation in Bed

August 22, 2008 · Filed Under Online Video · Comments

The iPod Touch has really changed the way I do things mainly the way a use my electronic media. I want to talk about the web based application for Revision 3. First off let me start by saying that I’m a Revision 3 junkie, the down side to it was I always had to sit in front of my computer to watch the show. Now while I’m working that’s fine, but sometimes at night when there is nothing on TV and I just feel like laying on the couch there was no way to get my Revison 3 fix.

Well those days are done. With the web based Revison 3 iphone App at www.m.revision3.com you have the entire network right on your ipod touch or iphone. The interface is clean and easy to navigate, the only down side is that even the better video is just a little choppy, but it’s still very good.

The Revison 3 ipod touch/iphone app lets me get my Tekzilla and Diggnation fix in the palm of my hand while flat on my back.

I give this app an iPhone applications 4 thumbs up.

Chanel Fashion App makes it way to the iPhone

August 21, 2008 · Filed Under fashion · Comments

I have to be honest, I went out searching for an app that was not a game to just blast and rub it’s face it the dirt. So when I came across the Chanel application the first thing that came to my mind was, BINGO! I found it, as I was downloading I could not stop thinking what to expect and the only thing going through my mind was all the shallow minded rich women in Bal Harbor, Florida downloading this.

When I first opened the app, I was quite impressed. The graphics are slick and very Chanel, it opens up to a pretty cool lens flare shooting around their logo and then drops you off on the home page. A black background, white text and nice color photos make this app very appealing to the eye. The app is very easy to navigate the top photo is a link to a video of their latest fashion show that is followed by three links below it; one for the latest Chanel creations, the second is Chanel news and the final is a store locator that links over to Google maps per location.

After looking through it I thought about my interests which are basically tech and football and then thought about all the people who are really into the fashion scene, for that crowd this is a pretty cool app. Another cool thing is to see a successful fashion company like Chanel embrace technology.

It’s hard to rate this app for the general person, but if you are a person in the fashion scene I think you will like it and for them I give it an iPhone applications 3 thumbs up. This app also allows me to add a fashion category to the blog which is something I never thought I would do.
